Actavis Group, the international generic pharmaceuticals company, today announced that its third-party sales division, Medis, has delivered 30 million tablets of Atorvastatin to its clients in Spain. This is the first generic version of the blockbuster molecule to reach the Spanish market.
BioVex Inc, a company developing new generation biologics for the treatment of cancer and prevention of infectious disease, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has agreed that BioVex's ongoing OPTiM clinical study in unresectable Stage IIIb-IV melanoma be amended to include untreated (i.e., first line) patients as well as previously treated patients as defined in the original protocol.
NPR interviewed Rep. Dave Camp, ranking Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee. Camp said: "We were able to at least be heard and have some exposure to the ideas that we've been promoting for a long time. And the president did finally say in the close that we do have ideas that lower costs in insurance and that — do it without increasing taxes. And we don't cut Medicare. And we don't have new mandates in our proposals. So this is really the first opportunity we've had to really focus not only our colleagues and the president, but also the American people on the proposals we've had" (Siegel, 2/25).
