Research into the molecular phylogeny (evolutionary history) of the HIV-1B virus in Indonesia has succeeded in illuminating the transmission period and routes for three clades (main branches of the virus).
According to a new study older adults people who have an under active thyroid, or hypothyroidism, but with no symptoms, have an increased the risk of congestive heart failure.
The members of the Task Force on American Innovation - a coalition of industry, universities, and professional societies - agree with the President's comments tonight that the country needs both strong measures to reduce federal budget deficits and increased investment in scientific research, particularly in the physical sciences and engineering. We believe strongly that both deficit reduction and these targeted investments are key to our nation's long-term economic growth and national security.
A common misconception about arterial plaque is that it inevitably leads to a heart attack or a stroke. New research at Columbia University Medical Center, however, sheds light on why so few plaques in any given individual actually cause a problem. Furthermore, the research has identified a key protein that may promote the conversion from benign to dangerous plaques.
