Individuals with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer who have rare or complex epidermal growth factor receptor mutations have inferior outcomes in response to EGFR–tyrosine kinase inhibitor treatment compared with those with common mutations, research indicates.
Important new findings and new research directions are the hallmarks of the March issue of Educational Researcher, a peer-reviewed publication of the American Educational Research Association. This issue is marked by a breadth of topics, data that debunk conventional wisdom, and articles likely to reframe future research.
Scientists are reporting that particle size affects the toxicity of zinc oxide, a material widely used in sunscreens. Particles smaller than 100 nanometers are slightly more toxic to colon cells than conventional zinc oxide. Solid zinc oxide was more toxic than equivalent amounts of soluble zinc, and direct particle to cell contact was required to cause cell death.
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) has recently signed a year-long collaboration agreement with Illumina, a leading developer and manufacturer of life sciences tools and integrated systems for large-scale analysis of genetic variation and function.
