Concert Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has initiated a Phase I study in healthy volunteers to evaluate the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of CTP-347, a novel deuterium-containing serotonin modulator created by Concert researchers.
The international community has been struggling to predict and contain successive waves of the COVID-19 pandemic, caused by the novel SARS-CoV-2 pathogen. The degree of success has varied between countries. In Taiwan, the use of contact tracing, with testing and isolation of confirmed cases, promises to end the ongoing third wave of the illness within two months. The strategy employed is described in a new preprint available on the medRxiv* server.
Research led by Xin Zheng of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, found that about 90% of patients who recovered from COVID-19 continued to have IgG antibodies targeting the N-domain and receptor-binding domain of the spike protein. However, approximately 43% of patients showed signs of neutralizing antibody activity.
