Federal scientists have developed a vaccine that protects mice against the killer 1918 influenza virus. They also have created a technique for identifying antibodies that neutralize this virus, a tool that could help contain future pandemic flu strains.
Two research papers have been released that show that the abstinence-only-until-marriage (AOUM) programs and policies in the United States are ineffective by and large and have not been successful in reducing risky sexual behaviors or early initiation of sex. Studies have reported that these are programs that successfully withhold medically accurate information not to mention infringe on adolescent human rights and reinforce gender stereotypes. The findings are published in the Journal of Adolescent Health.
Sorrento Therapeutics, Inc. and IGDRASOL announced today that IGDRASOL will be presenting updates of its analysis of proprietary late clinical stage NBN-Pac formulations, namely IG-001 (Cynviloq) and IG-004 (a D-a-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate (TPGS)-based paclitaxel formulation) at the annual Nanomedicine 2013 meeting in Barcelona, Spain (April 11th - 12th).
The value of the biosimilars market segment will account for 2.6% of the biological market by 2016, forecasts a new report from URCH Publishing. However, this forecast assumes biosimilars become permitted under U.S. law by 2012, notes the market strategy report "Biosimilars: A Growing Market - An overview of developments, companies & commercial opportunities".
With $3.8 million in support from the National Institute on Aging, University of California, Irvine neurobiologists are working to identify the early indicators of dementia in older adults as disease-related brain plaques accumulate but before symptoms can be observed.
