Healthpoint Biotherapeutics today announced that the results for its Phase 2b clinical trial investigating the efficacy of HP802-247 in venous leg ulcers is published on The Lancet, beginning August 3, 2012, with Online First access to the article, followed by print publication in the next issue.
WHO estimates that up to half a million new cases of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis occur worldwide, each year. Current treatment regimens for MDR-TB present many challenges: treatment lasts 20 months or more, requiring daily administration of drugs that are more toxic, less effective, and far more expensive than those used to treat drug-susceptible TB.

New studies show mixed results on the effects of epilepsy drugs taken during pregnancy. With a newer drug, lamotrigine, the risk of birth defects was similar to that in women without epilepsy. But long-time epilepsy drug valproic acid, or sodium valproate, does increase the risk of birth defects.
