A new study published on the medRxiv* pre-print server and currently undergoing peer-review aims to answer this question through whole blood transcriptomics of individuals with varying degrees of COVID-19 severity. Transcriptomics, done by RNA sequencing, gives insights into the genes expressed in a cell at a given time point. It gives an analysis of all RNA molecules within a cell, in this case, whole blood.
Scientists, policymakers and the media should acknowledge inherent uncertainties in epidemiological models projecting the spread of COVID-19 and avoid "catastrophizing" worst-case scenarios, according to new research from Cornell University.
Scientists have identified more than 800 markers in the blood of cancer patients that could help lead to a single blood test for early detection of many types of cancer in future, according to research presented at the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Cancer Conference in Liverpool today (Sunday).
