Johns Hopkins researchers who distributed a survey at a retreat and medical update for primary care physicians (PCPs) report that the vast majority of the 140 doctors who responded could not identify all 11 risk factors that experts say qualify patients for prediabetes screening.

A study in the Aug. 1 issue of the journal Sleep suggests that a dose of extra sleep on the weekend may be good medicine for adults who repeatedly stay up too late or wake up too early during the workweek. However, even a night of 10 hours in bed may not be enough to cure the negative effects of chronic sleep restriction.
Parents, if you have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), don't keep it from your kids. Talk to them. That's the message this June, PTSD Awareness Month, from Tom Babayan, a licensed marriage and family therapist at UCLA.
