The first trial of an important new combination therapy of treatment with the chemotherapy drug pemetrexed concurrent with radiation in lung cancer has delivered promising results, French researchers report at the 2nd European Lung Cancer Conference.

Recently, three winners were honored for their efforts in supporting patient care through technology, advanced sepsis intervention and improving early detection of diabetic retinopathy.
National Institutes of Health scientists studying inflammation of the brain have discovered why certain immune responses, which typically help cells recognize and fight viral and bacterial infections, can sometimes be harmful to the brain. Many brain disorders involve the death of neurons, or nerve cells, but how these neurons die is not well understood.
These two diseases are completely different from each other, but they do have one common denominator: inflammation. Researchers at Lund University in Sweden can now show that it might also be possible to treat them with the same drug.
Australian experts from health, business, government, the environment, community and academia have converged at the University of Sydney today to identify priorities for improving human health and ongoing sustainability in the face of significant climate change.
