Discovery Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ: DSCO), a specialty biotechnology company dedicated to advancing a new standard of respiratory critical care, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a new patent and Notices of Allowance for patents covering critical aspects of its KL4 surfactant and drug delivery technology platform.
Irving Place Capital, a middle-market private equity firm, announced today that it has signed a purchase agreement to acquire Alpha Packaging, a leading blow molder of plastic bottles and jars for the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and personal care markets. IPC is investing in partnership with Alpha's current management team, led by President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Spence and Chief Operating Officer Dan Creston. The transaction is expected to close in September of 2010.
Despite government efforts to expand diagnostic criteria for pelvic inflammatory disease, emergency department doctors are not identifying the condition any more often in adolescent girls, finds a new study in Journal of Adolescent Health.
