ActiveCare, Inc. and Vista Therapeutics, Inc. announced today a strategic relationship to develop Nano Biosensors for ActiveCare's products and services to be utilized by the elderly. These Biosensors will allow ActiveCare to continuously monitor specific chronic diseases commonly occurring in the elderly and thus preventively predict and avoid acute medical events. "This technology is designed to prolong and improve the quality of life of our senior population," stated James Dalton, President of ActiveCare.
Quest Diagnostics, the world's leading provider of diagnostic information services, and Barnabas Health, New Jersey's largest not-for-profit integrated health care delivery system, are teaming up to enhance quality and value of diagnostic services to patients and their doctors through an agreement for Quest to manage laboratory operations for Barnabas Health hospitals.
Sewage that overflows into urban creeks and streams during periods of heavy rain can promote the spread of West Nile virus, a study led by Emory University finds. The analysis of six years of data showed that people living near creeks with sewage overflows in lower-income neighborhoods of Southeast Atlanta had a seven times higher risk for West Nile virus than the rest of the city.
Despite growing concern about the effects of media violence on children, violent television shows and movies continue to be produced and marketed to them. An Indiana University research study concludes that violence doesn't add anything to their enjoyment of such programs and their characters.
