An increasing gap between the incidence of thyroid cancer and deaths from the disease suggests that low-risk cancers are being overdiagnosed and overtreated, a study from the Mayo Clinic Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery finds. The study appears in the current issue of the British Medical Journal.
According to results of a survey presented at the 72nd Annual Scientific Meeting of the American College of Gastroenterology, nighttime acid reflux, along with some of the less typical manifestations or symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is associated with significant sleep impairment.
A major deal in the substance abuse recovery industry will mean new treatment options for people struggling with addiction. Origins Behavioral Healthcare and Caron Treatment Centers announced today an agreement in which Origins will acquire two addiction treatment centers owned and operated by Caron: Hanley Center in West Palm Beach and Gate Lodge in Vero Beach, Fla.
