An international health panel has recommended for the first time that all HIV patients be treated with antiretroviral drugs, even when the virus's impact on their immune system is shown to be small. The nonprofit International Antiviral Society-USA cited new evidence that untreated infection with the human immunodeficiency virus that causes AIDS can also lead to a range of other conditions, including cardiovascular disease and kidney disease.
Foamix Ltd., a leading developer of topical foams for dermatological and gynecological use, announced today that it has been awarded Mexican Patent Registration No. 268451 entitled "Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical Foam." The patent covers Foamix's vehicles, compositions and cosmetic and pharmaceutical uses thereof based on the company's Emollient Foam technology platform.
Many surgical patients are concerned about the level of pain they will experience. In a new study presented at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2011, researchers from Thomas Jefferson University identified that multimodal analgesia, a combination of pain medication and therapeutic measures to improve pain control, is used less than 25 percent of the time prior to surgery.
