The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality today announced two new tools to help pharmacies provide better quality services to people with limited health literacy.
After years of basic research, scientists at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) are increasingly able to understand the mechanisms underlying the human Usher syndrome and are coming ever closer to finding a successful treatment approach. The scientists in the Usher research group of Professor Dr. Uwe Wolfrum are evaluating two different strategies. These involve either the repair of mutated genes or the deactivation of the genetic defects using agents.
Alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment and recovery research typically focuses on outcomes such as 'days abstinent.' Yet the degree to which individuals may be functioning better physically, socially and psychologically, how happy they may be, and their levels of self-esteem may be equally important as measures of progress.
CardioNet, Inc. today announced the availability of new, innovative clinical and reporting enhancements to the Company's existing Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry™ (MCOT™) service.
A contemporary discussion exists whether patients with low-risk prostate cancer (CaP) are being overtreated with local treatment modalities. This is due to a combination of the older population affected and the slow doubling time of CaP.
