A Knoxville abortion provider has closed after 38 years, citing a newly enacted Tennessee law that requires doctors to hold admitting privileges at local hospitals. The Volunteer Women's Medical Clinic in Knoxville closed Friday. In a public letter titled "End of an Era," Executive Director Deb Walsh wrote that she was unable to keep their doors open in part due to the "Life Defense Act," which requires physicians to obtain admitting privileges at area hospitals.
Healthland, America's market leader of healthcare information solutions for rural community and critical access hospitals, today announced it will host a live webcast as part of its ongoing commitment to provide community hospitals and affiliated clinics with tools and services to help them meet meaningful use requirements under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
To address obesity worldwide, changes are needed in both the availability of treatments and the attitudes of clinicians. That's the conclusion of a survey-based study of health professionals.
In 2012, the public healthcare sector in Australia was more than twice the size of the private healthcare sector in terms of hospital beds and total hospital expenditure. While private healthcare and other small to medium medical facilities do provide facilities management opportunities, it is mostly to small and medium FM companies. The larger and well-established FM providers will mostly come into play with the successful implementation of public private partnerships model in the healthcare sector.
Huge advancements have taken place in HIV treatment and prevention over the past 10 years, but there is still no cure or vaccine. A new review shows that because of advancements in treatment, people with the virus are living longer.
