Checkpoint Surgical, Inc., a U.S.-based medical device company with proprietary neurostimulation technology for nerve protection and repair, announced the publication of the first peer-reviewed study comparing the use of its Checkpoint Nerve Stimulator/Locator to Medtronic's Nerve Integrity Monitor for neural monitoring during thyroid and parathyroid surgeries in the April 2019 edition of The Laryngoscope.
Researchers from Virginia Commonwealth University sought to shed light on the biopsychosocial and spiritual effects of taking prescribed opioids to treat noncancer pain.

Scientists in Illinois have developed a way to make simple oil droplets "smart" enough to navigate through a complex maze almost like a trained lab rat. The finding could have a wide range of practical implications, including helping cancer drugs to reach their target and controlling the movement of futuristic nano-machines, the scientists say.
