Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and the PTT Chemical Public Company Ltd. in Thailand have signed a research and development collaboration agreement for commercial development of BGU's proprietary green algae strain.
Evidence-Based Approaches to Population Health and Family Practice is the theme of the new issue of Family Medicine and Community Health, an international peer reviewed medical journal with editorial offices in China and the U.S. The Summer 2015 issue includes six original research articles, two educational research articles and two systematic reviews addressing various topics in evidence based population health and patient care.
On September 23, researchers published online in the journal Nature a study of the molecular biology of breast cancer, using the intrinsic subtypes as defined by the PAM50 gene signature as an organizing framework for analyzing genomic and proteomic aberrations. This landmark study both underscores the emergence of the intrinsic subtypes as a powerful taxonomy of breast cancer in research, and PAM50's role as the gold standard for categorizing breast cancer by subtype.
The effort to vaccinate Americans against covid-19 took a hit this week. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration jointly called for a pause in use of the vaccine made by Johnson & Johnson while experts try to figure out whether it is responsible for a small number of serious blood clots, mostly in women of childbearing age.
Envoy Therapeutics, Inc., a newly formed drug discovery company, today announced that it has secured a loan from Takeda Research Investment (TRI) which Envoy may elect to convert to Envoy preferred stock should the company complete a second private equity financing. TRI will receive certain rights from Envoy related to a specific therapeutic field while scientists at the two companies craft a broad scientific research alliance.
