Professor Matthew Disney of the Department of Chemistry on the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute, together with scientists from Mayo Clinic's Florida campus and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, has been awarded $7.2 million from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke of The National Institutes of Health to create new RNA-based treatments for the most common form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), as well as a type of frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Cord Blood America, Inc., the umbilical cord blood stem cell preservation company (http://www.cordblood-america.com) focused on bringing the life saving potential of stem cells, a biological insurance policy, to families nationwide and internationally, said today that it has signed a Letter of Intent to process and store cord blood specimens for BioCells, Inc., headquartered in Argentina, and its affiliates in Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Panama and Puerto Rico.
The day of celebration is to congratulate all ex-smokers, whether they are amongst the 400,000 who have signed up to kick the habit with the European Commission's "Ex-Smokers are Unstoppable" campaign, or have quit using other means.
The act and victimization of bullying continues to be a problem among today's youth. While many children are experiencing this form of violence, it is more prevalent in children that are different from the social norm.
