Exercise is healthy. That is common knowledge. But just how rigorous should that exercise be in order to really impact a person's fitness level? And, if you sit all day at a desk, but still manage to get out and exercise, does that negate your six, seven, or eight hours of sedentary behavior?
The stats are too familiar: Nearly half of African-American adults are at risk of developing hypertension, a rate significantly higher than that of any other group in the United States. Hypertension-related ailments, such as strokes and end-stage renal disease, account for 20 percent of all deaths among African-Americans.
A multidisciplinary Michigan Medicine team is shedding new light on the role of regulatory T cells in pancreatic cancer -; and, in mouse models, have uncovered a new potential target to improve immunotherapy approaches to the deadly disease.
Here at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine we are running a project called the Vaccine Confidence Project and we have a global surveillance monitoring information around the world on media, social media, all sorts of information, reports from governments, UN, other sources, looking for any what we call "signals" of public distrust or concerns that come up.
The grants will go to 48 organizations to help the state explain benefits, show consumers how to access insurance and encourage small businesses to participate.
