Medical Air Technology (MAT) recently completed a project at the prestigious Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), increasing laboratory capacity to accommodate a new machine for counting and profiling cells. Founded in 1898, LSTM is the oldest School in Tropical Medicine in the world, and recognised globally for its groundbreaking research into infectious, debilitating and disabling diseases.
Breast cancer survivors taking aromatase inhibitors (AIs) such as anastrozole, letrozole, and exemestane experienced a reduction in joint pain if they exercised while on treatment, according to results presented here at the 2013 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, held Dec. 10-14.
A University of Limerick study has found that a shared community or identity influences how we view and respond to stress. The study, ‘Social identity influences stress appraisals and cardiovascular reactions to acute stress exposure' recently published in the British Journal of Health Psychology.
Contrary to more conservative customs, exercising up to the end of pregnancy has no harmful effect on the weight or size of the foetus. This is what has been indicated in a study carried out by researchers of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Polytechnic University of Madrid), which also shows the positive relationship between the weight of sedentary mothers before pregnancy and the body size of their babies.
