OrbiMed Advisors, LLC, EcoR1 Capital Management, Foresite Capital Management and two undisclosed blue chip public investment funds joined existing investors Third Rock Ventures and ARCH Venture Partners.
Scientists are reporting discovery of a protein in the blood of lung cancer patients that could be used in a test for the disease - difficult to diagnose in its earliest and most treatable stages - and to develop drugs that stop lung cancer from spreading. Their study appears in ACS's Journal of Proteome Research.
Lower air pollution levels saved an estimated 5,660 lives in New York State in 2012, compared to 2002 levels, according to a new study.
Many common illnesses are independently associated with an increased risk of suicide in elderly people, according to an article in the June 14 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
