A new project to develop and test a talking-based therapy for cancer survivors, led by Queen Mary University of London, Barts Health NHS Trust and King's College London, has been awarded £2.5m by the National Institute for Health Research.
Specialists On Call, Inc. (SOC), announced today that it recently delivered its 10,000th emergency teleneurology consultation since the company's inception. This telemedicine milestone is an unprecedented achievement and expands SOC's leadership position as the largest private emergency teleneurology provider in the country.
Consuming carbohydrates with high glycemic index—an indicator of how quickly a food affects blood glucose levels—appears to be associated with the risk of coronary heart disease in women but not men, according to a report in the April 12 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
The study, which appears in the December 18 online version of Cell Stem Cell and the January 2009 print edition of the journal, provides proof of principle that alternative sources of stem cells can be created.
