Genta Incorporated today announced the presentation of initial results from the first human use of a gallium-containing compound to treat serious infection. In a patient with cystic fibrosis and a highly resistant lung infection, who has been treated over a 2-year period, high concentrations of gallium were achieved in sputum.
Before news of the November 5, Fort Hood shootings reached the public, oral and maxillofacial surgeons Major Mark E. Ranschaert, DMD and Major Joseph Dylan Bowles, DDS were in Fort Hood's Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center emergency room working to save the lives of the shooter's victims.
Researchers of the Unit of Medicine Design and Molecular Topology (Department of Physics Chemistry) of the University of Valencia have discovered eight new active molecules against Alzheimer by a novel mechanism of action, different to the currently used medicines. The work has just been published in the "Plos One" magazine.
According to a new study kids who are overweight are nearly three times more likely to have high blood pressure compared to their peers. The study, published in the journal Hypertension, followed 1,111 school-aged children in Indiana for an average of four years.
