OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that preclinical data utilizing their pipeline compound OGX-427 was presented at the AACR 102nd Annual Meeting 2011.
A new anti-cancer drug aimed at vitamin D receptors on cancer cells has prompted encouraging responses in the levels of PSA (prostate specific antigen) in men with prostate cancer that has become resistant to hormonal therapies.
Though researchers have made substantial progress in developing drug-ferrying nanoparticles that successfully target tumor cells in living animals, including humans, investigators have only now started the detailed work needed to identify formulation parameters that would optimize drug delivery to malignant cells.
Like homing pigeons, humans have a nose for navigation because our brains are wired to convert smells into spatial information, new research from the University of California, Berkeley, shows.
Following a kick-off meeting, the TransLUMINAL-B project, which is being led by Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, is now officially underway. Over the next three years, researchers involved in the project will study the process of metastasis formation and the role of malignant cells, which accumulate in the blood and bone marrow of patients with certain types of breast cancer.
