A new research report published in the December 2009 print issue of The FASEB Journal could one day give men similar type of control over their fertility that women have had since the 1960s. That's because scientists have found how and where androgenic hormones work in the testis to control normal sperm production and male fertility. This opens a promising avenue for the development of "the pill" for men. The discovery also offers hope to those who cannot have children because of low sperm counts.
The Administrative Law Judge at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) issued his Initial Determination concluding that Acambis plc's smallpox vaccine product (MVA3000) infringes two of Bavarian Nordic's patents on Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) and furthermore that Bavarian Nordic's patents are enforceable.
An international team of scientists led by the University of Granada has defended the role of physical education (PE) teachers in secondary schools as the point of entry to the public health system.
A spokesperson for Egypt's health ministry has confirmed that a 10 year-old girl has become the youngest victim in Egypt of bird flu since the first human case was recorded in the country in March 2006 and is the country's 15th fatality from the deadly virus.
