A new paper identifies the critical need for research on the ability of the COVID-19 virus to infect certain animal species, the transmissibility of infection between humans and those animals, and the impact infection could have on food security and the economy.
In a new study, researchers found that half of the patients they treated for mild COVID-19 infection still had coronavirus for up to eight days after symptoms disappeared.
Many of the most aggressive and hard-to-treat cancers are highly effective at blocking T cells, known as the foot soldiers of the immune system, from reaching and responding to tumors.
Vital improvements can be made to patients diabetes control, by ensuring a recent blood glucose history is available to their Specialist Nurse. Traditionally patients have recorded their results in a paper logbook but now the new app from GlucoMen is a fantastic alternative using Smartphone technology to ensure a complete and accurate record.
One of the largest medical research grants ever awarded to the University of Missouri was announced today by MU scientists and administrators. The National Institutes of Health grant will help answer important questions about such prevalent health problems as high blood pressure, diabetes and stroke. The conditions are closely associated with cardiovascular disease, which is the leading cause of death in Missouri and the nation.
