Scientists at Houston Methodist received support from the U.S. Department of Defense to reprogram cancer patients' immune cells to attack triple negative breast cancer, the most lethal form of breast cancer.
Previous infection with either Zika virus or dengue virus has no apparent effect on the clinical course of subsequent infection with the other virus, according to a study published August 1 in the open-access journal PLOS Pathogens by David O'Connor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and colleagues.
The JC polyomavirus is clearly opportunistic. It infects half the population but lethally destroys brain tissue only in immunocompromised patients - and it may be outright sneaky, too. Even as a new research paper allays fears that common mutant forms of the virus are the ones directly responsible for the disease's main attack, that same finding raises new questions about what the mutants are doing instead.
CMC Biologics, a global leader in clinical and commercial manufacturing of therapeutic proteins, and River Vision Development Corporation (River Vision), a private company focused on ophthalmology, announced today that they have entered into an agreement for the process transfer and cGMP production of RV001 (Teprotumumab) – a recombinant monoclonal antibody targeting insulin-like growth factor 1 that is in development for treatment of Grave's Orbitopathy and other indications.
