Aiming to relaunch the nation's patient safety agenda with renewed energy and focus, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement today hosts representatives from 24 organizations to begin work on a national strategy for reducing harm in the delivery of health care.
Tuberculosis (TB) incidence in the UK has declined over the past 4 years, with fewer numbers of new migrants diagnosed with the disease. A new study, published in The Lancet finds that migrants arriving on visas to the UK from countries at high risk of TB and who were pre-screened for TB, pose a negligible risk of onwards infection, despite being at increased risk of developing TB themselves.
Drugs are regularly prescribed to children in outpatient care that have not been licensed for children.
Waist circumference, a measure of belly fat, is not a better predictor than body mass index for identifying children with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, according to a study by University of Michigan researchers.
