The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is announcing up to $14.4 million in new grants to help people in substance abuse treatment programs.
Mutations in a gene called XRCC2 cause increased breast cancer risk, according to a study published today in the American Journal of Human Genetics. The study looked at families that have a history of the disease but do not have mutations in the currently known breast cancer susceptibility genes.
Cardinal Health today reported fiscal year 2014 first-quarter revenue of $24.5 billion and a 36 percent increase in non-GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS) from continuing operations to $1.10. Non-GAAP operating earnings increased 13 percent to $532 million.
The mechanistic association between migraines and type 2 diabetes reveals a new approach to treat diabetes.
A new magnetic therapy that treats major depression "is rapidly gaining momentum," said Dr. Murali Rao of Loyola University Medical Center, one of the first Chicago-area centers to offer the treatment.
