AIDS patients suffer higher rates of cancer because they have fewer T-cells in their bodies to fight disease. But new research examines why HIV-infected patients have higher rates of cancer-among the leading causes of death among that population-than the general population.

An estimated 30 million Americans deal with dry mouth, or xerostomia, an uncomfortable oral health condition which can have a detrimental effect on overall oral health.
Patients with Parkinson's disease using the Boston Scientific Corporation Vercise DBS (deep brain stimulation) System showed a significant improvement in motor scores according to interim data from the VANTAGE DBS study.

Instead of open heart surgery, patients will undergo a less complex catheter-based procedure to treat mitral regurgitation, a serious heart disorder where blood leaks backwards toward the lungs with each heart beat.
OncoSec Medical Incorporated, a company developing DNA-based intratumoral cancer immunotherapies, today announced enrollment of the first patient into the Phase II Investigator Sponsored Trial led by the University of California, San Francisco to assess the anti-tumor activity, safety, and tolerability of the combination of OncoSec's investigational therapy, ImmunoPulse IL-12, and Merck's approved anti-PD-1 agent, KEYTRUDA (pembrolizumab), in patients with unresectable metastatic melanoma.
