One of the most effective measures for containing the transmission of a virus is to identify who an infected person has been in contact and/or crossed paths with, mainly during incubation periods.
Today's headlines include reports that Arkansas will use federal funds to pay for its state-based health exchange while action in Michigan suggests momentum might be building to pursue a partnership exchange that will be run by the federal government.
Photographs of faces may not be adequate proof of a person's identity and this could have serious implications for the accuracy of passport photographs in determining identity. Research funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) shows that an image of a person may look strikingly different from one image to the next. We are told not to smile in our passport photos as a smile distorts the face; but the opposite may actually be true, and a poker face may be the one which distorts normal facial features.
Each day, one in seven Coloradans face hunger. It's a serious issue that forces many to choose between putting food on the table and handling day-to-day expenses like paying the bills or purchasing necessary medication. Kaiser Permanente Colorado is reaffirming its commitment to diminishing the rates of hunger in this state by providing 13 local nonprofits a portion of a $1 million grant that aims to increase access to food for all Coloradans.
