Researchers at MIT and Boston Children's Hospital have published a report today in the journal Nature Materials that provides a better understanding of the body's immune responses to the materials used in implanted medical devices.
In direct response to recommendations made by a National Institutes of Health scientific consensus panel, the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group announced today the opening of E4112, a clinical trial for women with newly diagnosed ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) of the breast who, together with their doctors, will use the results of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam to determine whether to undergo a lumpectomy or a mastectomy.
The Center for Business Intelligence (CBI), a division of Advanstar Communications, is pleased to host their October Summit taking place at the Marriott Tyson's Corner, on October 22-23, 2009. Thought leaders from the importing and exporting compliance space from leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies assemble to discuss timely issues surrounding import-export regulation chain safety and security in this industry.
A new study reveals that the oil and gas industry supply chain which includes oil companies, contractors and sub-contractors does not perceive the full extent of the risks that HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria pose to its workforce, productivity and profitability. The study conducted by management consulting firm Booz & Company in partnership the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC) outlines why the oil and gas industry should improve its understanding of the hazards posed by these three epidemics and makes ten recommendations for how to make health a priority.
Thanks to a new method of analyzing ultrasound images, conventional scanners can be used for generating high-res images of blood vessels in tumors. This approach makes it easier to distinguish between different types of tumors, and it facilitates the tracking of the progress and success of chemotherapy.
