The Highmark Foundation has awarded schools in Western Pennsylvania with $311,950 in "Creating a Healthy School Environment" grants for innovative, healthy programs that begin in September when local students head back to schools.
"Health officials in southern China are proposing new legislation to require real-name registration for HIV testing, a move aimed at lowering infection rates that has sparked controversy over personal privacy," the Wall Street Journal's "China Real Time Report" blog reports.
The cool, crisp air will soon be filled with the tantalizing scent of fried candy bars, funnel cakes and candy apples. Local and state fairs may offer thrilling rides and fun games, but perhaps the biggest attraction is the food.
Measuring heart disease risk factors in children at or after age 9 helped predict the likelihood of atherosclerosis in adulthood, according to a study in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.
