RainDance Technologies and CLC bio today announced a partnership to develop specialized software for the analysis of targeted resequencing data generated by workflows incorporating RainDance's Sequence Enrichment Solution and next generation DNA sequencing platforms.
Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry, D-Mass., and the ranking Republican Senator Richard Lugar, R-Ind., have sent a letter to President Barack Obama "urging" him to nominate a candidate - who has already been screened - for the vacant USAID administrator position "as quickly as possible," CQ reports. According to the senators, the "leadership vacuum" is impeding USAID's efforts in foreign, development and humanitarian aid, and it is the "last major agency in the U.S. government to remain unfilled," CQ writes.
Stem cells drawn from amniotic fluid show promise for tissue engineering, but it's important to know what they can and cannot do. A new study by researchers at Rice University and Texas Children's Hospital has shown that these stem cells can communicate with mature heart cells and form electrical couplings with each other similar to those found in heart tissue.
