The Vertebrate Pigmentary System: From pigment cells to disorders provides readers with fundamental knowledge of the structural and functional aspects of vertebrate pigment cells - melanophores and melanocytes - from their origin to different stages of development to related diseases.
Preliminary experience suggests that lipofilling—using fat from elsewhere in the patient's body for contouring of the breasts—is a safe procedure for women who have undergone breast cancer surgery, reports a study in the August issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery®, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
Researchers at the University of Missouri have identified a communication breakdown between nerves and muscles in mice that may provide new insight into the debilitating and fatal human disease known as spinal muscular atrophy.
An international team of researchers from the CEA, the CNRS, the Institut Laue-Langevin, the Jülich Centre for Neutron Science, the University of California Irvine, the Australian Institute of Science and Technology Organisation, the Max Planck Institute Mülheim and the University of Perugia has shed light on the molecular mechanism behind the importance of water for functional protein dynamics.
A paper published in the current issue of P&P by a group of researchers of the University of Bologna (headed by Professor Giovanni Fava) and a Harvard psychopharmacologist (professor Ross Baldessarini) has analyzed data that derive from randomized controlled trials concerned with the use of antidepressant drugs in children and adolescents.
