A City of Hope scientist is one step closer to discovering what weakens a pathogen that appears to cause babies to be born with abnormally small heads.
Today's early morning highlights from the major news organizations, including lots of talk about the 'super committee' and about the new census numbers regarding the uninsured as well as the second-day analysis regarding some of the controversial comments made during Monday night's GOP presidential primary debate.
Agile Therapeutics, Inc., a pharmaceutical development company specializing in women's healthcare products, today announced study initiation and dosing of the first patient in the Company's pivotal, Phase 3 NEW CHOICE Study of AG200-15, Agile's lead contraceptive patch. AG200-15 is designed to effectively deliver a low dose of estrogen in combination with levonorgestrel. The patch is applied once weekly for three weeks followed by a patch-free week.
Town Sports International Holdings, Inc., a leading owner and operator of health clubs located primarily in major cities from Washington, DC north through New England, operating under the brand names "New York Sports Clubs," "Boston Sports Clubs," "Washington Sports Clubs" and "Philadelphia Sports Clubs," announced its results for the fourth quarter and full-year ended December 31, 2010.
New research from the University of California, San Diego Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, shows that the anti-rejection drug sirolimus (brand name Rapamune) may help prolong the clinical benefit of transplanted kidneys and delay rejection, especially in patients who do not regularly take their prescribed medications (are "non-compliant"). While the transplant field has been highly successful at reducing rejection and graft loss in the first year, post-transplant, reducing risk for graft rejection in the long-term has proved more difficult.
