Now, the mystery behind what triggers the virus to become active again is closer to being solved thanks to new research published in the Journal of Leukocyte Biology's November 2012 issue.
Even as the Zika virus becomes more prevalent — the Centers for Disease Control reports that the number of U.S. infants born with microcephaly and other birth defects is 20 times over the normal rate — researchers are still trying to fully pin down the identifying consequences of the viral infection.
The United States government is calling all hospitals to report new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases and report key coronavirus statistics to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This comes after the move from the Trump administration in July, ordering hospitals to report data to a central database in Washington.
Earlier this year, researchers at the University of Washington reported that they had developed a toxin-nanoparticle combination that inhibits brain cancer invasion when added to tumor cells growing in culture.
