A diet rich in soy may help feminine hearts, but timing matters, finds a new study published online today in Menopause, the journal of The North American Menopause Society.
According to Dr. Ila R. Singh, an associate professor of pathology at the University of Utah, "for the first time we have analyzed prostate cancer and normal prostate tissue and found cancers are much more likely to have [the XMRV virus] ... It was also more likely to be present in more aggressive tumors," Singh said. "We found it in 20 percent of the least aggressive tumors and over 45 percent of the most aggressive tumors."
Scientists today described key advances toward practical uses of a new genre of tiny, biocompatible electronic devices that could be implanted into the body to relieve pain or battle infection for a specific period of time, and then dissolve harmlessly.
MonoSol Rx, a specialty pharmaceutical company and the developers of the PharmFilm technology platform, in collaboration with APR Applied Pharma Research s.a. of Switzerland, announced today that its FDA-approved anti-emetic Zuplenz (Ondansetron) oral soluble film is available for licensing to new commercial partners.
Pharmaceutical Care Management Association President and CEO Mark Merritt released the following statement on President Obama's budget proposal that would grant brand-name drug manufacturers seven years of market exclusivity before generic versions of biologic products can enter the market, instead of the 12 years that was passed in the health reform bill.
