A little vibration can be a good thing for people who need a sensitive touch. Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have developed a glove with a special fingertip designed to improve the wearer's sense of touch. Applying a small vibration to the side of the fingertip improves tactile sensitivity and motor performance, according to their research results.
...and those also diagnosed with depression are at almost three times the risk, according to new research.
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia celebrated the grand opening of its Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care. The Family Fall Festival and ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on November 7, was designed to recognize the 4,200 donors – more than 1,300 of them CHOP employees – who helped raise over $96 million towards design and construction of the Buerger Center, the nation's most advanced outpatient facility for pediatric care.
Just three months of daily, vigorous physical activity in overweight children improves their thinking and reduces their diabetes risk, researchers say.
