Coeliac UK, the national charity for people with coeliac disease, is calling on the Government to ensure a new guideline launched this week by NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) is taken up by the medical profession to identify half million people in the UK who have undiagnosed coeliac disease.
Omega-3 fatty acids are able to stimulate the activation of brown and beige adipose tissues, a discovery that would promote the development of new therapies for obesity and other metabolism diseases, according to a research study published in the journal Nature Communications under the supervision of Professor Francesc Villarroya, from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine and the Biomedical Research Center Red-Fisiopatología de la Obesidad y Nutrición (CIBEROBN) of the Institute of Health Carlos III.
A distinguished panel of medical experts, state and federal health officials, and congenital heart disease parent advocates published recommended updates to the current American Academy of Pediatrics' protocol for detecting critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) in newborn babies using pulse oximetry.
A research team in the department of psychiatry, at the University of Pittsburgh, has been awarded a $5 Million National Institutes of Health grant to participate in a multi-site study focusing on the impact of adolescent marijuana, alcohol and other drug use on the developing brain.
