Two types of drugs that are recommended as a first treatment for patients with high blood pressure were found equally effective in improving cardiovascular outcomes, but the more popular type causes slightly more side effects, finds a multinational observational study led by researchers at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The Ontario Health Coalition in partnership with dozens of community groups in rural and northern Ontario, are announcing a series of cross- province activities. This group initiative is a direct response to the uncertain future of small, rural and northern health care, as a result of hospital restructuring.
Today, Humana Inc. announced an innovative Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, co-branded with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., that can provide significant savings on monthly plan premiums and prescription medicine copayments and cost-shares for Medicare beneficiaries, including seniors and people with disabilities.
Boehringer Ingelheim has announced that the September 15 issue of The Lancet will publish results from the RE-NOVATE study, which investigated dabigatran etexilate as a potential therapy for patients undergoing total hip replacement surgery.
