EyeBrain, a company that develops markers of cerebral function for neurological and psychiatric disorders and diseases, today announces the conclusion of a new round of funding. A total of €1.3 million ($1.47 million) has been raised with the support of EyeBrain's shareholders, the Fonds Régional de Co-Investissement d'Ile-de-France (FRCI, regional joint investment fund for the Ile-de-France or Greater Paris area) and the Anaxago crowdfunding platform.
Rates of heart attack and coronary death among British middle aged men have fallen steadily since the late 1970s, but this has been largely offset by an increase in the rate of diagnosed angina, finds a study in this week's BMJ.
Researchers have made rapid advances in understanding how to manipulate the immune system safely to destroy cancer cells. Adoptive transfer of haploidentical natural killer cells has shown promise as a treatment option to target and kill cancer cells in a less toxic way than conventional therapies. Now for the first time, scientists will combine NK cell therapy with an immunocytokine to target children with relapsed/refractory disease including those with bulky tumors.
The Iowa Senate on Thursday voted 30-18 to approve a bill (SF 389) that would extend health insurance to 30,000 children and set up a commission to help residents obtain affordable coverage, the Des Moines Register reports.
China National Radio (CNR) on Jan. 16 is set to air a weekly one-hour program aimed at increasing HIV/AIDS awareness, Xinhua reports. People living with HIV will help co-host the program - "Positive Talks" - which will feature communication between hosts and the audience as well as experts on HIV/AIDS prevention and more, Yang Wenyan, deputy editor-in-chief of CNR, said Saturday.
