Politico reports that the Obama administration will begin a pitch to enroll the uninsured beginning in July.
Macrophages are immune cells that are supposed to protect the body from infection by viruses and bacteria. Yet Zika virus preferentially infects these cells. Researchers at University of California San Diego School of Medicine have now unraveled how the virus shuts down the genes that make macrophages function as immune cells.
Research carried out by scientists at the Peninsula Medical School in the South West of England has found that resveratrol, a compound present naturally in grape skin, can protect against the cellular damage to blood vessels caused by high production of glucose in diabetes, according to a paper published in the science journal "Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism" this week.
Cooperation between Finnish and Chinese research groups has opened up new opportunities for developing treatments targeting aggressive acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (T-ALL).
