Investigators at The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research have utilized a new image-based strategy to identify and measure placebo effects in randomized clinical trials for brain disorders. The findings are published in the August issue of The Journal of Clinical Investigation.
While all names have been suppressed to protect the identities of those involved, the case has caught the imagination of the media. "Dr N" who admitted to professional misconduct before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal was reported to have appealed to the High Court against being struck off by The Weekend Herald on Saturday. The appeal was unsuccessful.
In France, more than 860,000 people suffer from Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, making them the largest cause of age-related loss of intellectual function. Cognitive impairments observed in Alzheimer's disease result from the accumulation of abnormal tau proteins in nerve cells undergoing degeneration .
