White Americans who are obese are twice as likely as black Americans to have surgery to tackle the problem, a study has found.
Physicians now have two safe and effective options to treat their patients at risk for stroke, says a researcher at Mayo Clinic who led a large, NIH-funded, national clinical trial testing surgery or use of a stent to open a blocked carotid artery.
In people with high cholesterol levels, the fat that is built up in the artery walls narrows the arteries causing a condition called atherosclerosis. A study published on 19th June in the European Heart Journal has found the likelihood of a vaccine that can immunize humans having atherosclerosis, subsequent to successful outcomes in a mouse model study. At present, phase I clinical trial has begun in patients to see the possibility of translating the study findings to humans.
New research on how cannabis use alters eating behavior could lead to treatments for appetite loss in chronic illness, according to experts at Washington State University.
