According to researchers patients undergoing treatment for prostate cancer could be at a risk of impotence. According to the new study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association there may be a formula to help gauge those risks for three common types of treatment, including surgery and radiation.
Collaborative Drug Discovery, Inc. (CDD) today announced that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has extended its previous grant to CDD to create a novel database to spark collaborative efforts to discover more effective drugs against tuberculosis (TB). The TB bacillus infects approximately one third of the world's population and the disease kills over 1.5 million people every year.
Cancer prevention experts have long been frustrated by the lack of a meaningful way to screen women for ovarian cancer. It is a relatively rare disease that often progresses with few symptoms until it is too late for potentially curative treatments, and elevated values of the most commonly used biomarker used in screening, CA125, are also related to other disorders.
Athletes using legal performance enhancing and medical sport supplements are more likely to dope than those using sport foods and superfoods, a new study reveals.
The Donation and Transplantation Institute and Immersium Studio, a UOC spin-off, have developed virtual reality experiences that can be used to train health professionals in the area of organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
