A US study has identified optimal cutoffs for the definition of pain among individuals with multiple sclerosis.
Midwesterners aren't known for complaining. But after Mercy Hospital Fort Scott closed, hardship trickled down to people whose lives were already hard.
Domain Surgical, Inc., a leading developer of advanced thermal surgical technology, today announced that it has released a line of stout surgical tips for its FMwand Ferromagnetic Surgical System. As with all FMwand tools, the stout surgical tips simultaneously cut and coagulate tissue without passing electrical current into the patient, making them safe to use near delicate tissue structures.
In an era when for-profit companies collect a wealth of data about us, new research from The University of Texas at Austin shows that data collected by health care companies could - if made available to researchers and public health agencies - enable more accurate forecasts of when the next flu season will peak, how long it will last and how many people will get sick.
The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can contain dozens of different mutations, called polymorphisms. In a recent study an international team of researchers, including MU scientists, found that one of those mutations, called 172K, made certain forms of the virus more susceptible to treatment. Soon, doctors will be able to use this knowledge to improve the drug regiment they prescribe to HIV-infected individuals.
