Aegerion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that the underwriters of its October 22, 2010 initial public offering have exercised in full their over-allotment option to purchase an additional 750,000 shares of Aegerion's common stock at $9.50 per share, less underwriting discounts and commissions. The option was granted in connection with Aegerion's initial public offering of 5,000,000 shares. The over-allotment option is expected to close on November 2, 2010, subject to customary closing conditions.
Cancer is caused by the growth of an abnormal cell which harbours DNA mutations, "copy errors" occurring during the DNA replication process. If these errors do take place quite regularly without having any damaging effect on the organism, some of them affect a specific part of the genome and cause the proliferation of the mutant cell, which then invades the organism.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Company today presented results from a national survey which found that emotional barriers, such as stigma, fear, denial and shame, and structural barriers, such as lack of knowledge, transportation, and insurance coverage, can prevent people living with HIV/AIDS from seeking care and treatment.
According to leading researchers there is more evidence than ever before that fiber-rich foods prevent bowel cancer. They analyzed the most up-to-date research on the disease and said there is now "convincing" evidence that foods containing fiber can offer protection. An earlier 2007 concluded that dietary fiber "probably" cuts the risk of the disease but this new analysis is stronger they say. New evidence includes research that says three servings a day of cereal fiber and whole grains reduce the risk.
