Amgen today announced that the Phase 3 DESCARTES (Durable Effect of PCSK9 Antibody CompARed wiTh PlacEbo Study) study evaluating the long-term 52-week safety and efficacy of evolocumab for the treatment of high cholesterol met its primary endpoint of percent reduction from baseline in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) at week 52.
The Structural Heart Program team at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston is among the first in the country to investigate the safety and effectiveness of Edwards Lifesciences Sapien 3 transcatheter aortic heart valve in low surgical risk patients who suffer from severe aortic valve disease.
Cancer researchers at Georgetown University Medical Center have discovered a key marker in breast cancer tumors that may help determine which women with early stage breast cancer have a better chance of survival. The research appears in the June 1 issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
