Using red blood cells modified to carry disease-specific antigens, scientists in the laboratories of Hidde Ploegh and Harvey Lodish have prevented and alleviated two autoimmune diseases—multiple sclerosis (MS) and type 1 diabetes—in early stage mouse models.
SAS, the leader in business analytics software and services, and GE Healthcare have entered into a joint development and marketing agreement by which GE Healthcare will leverage SAS technology to analyze and deliver relevant, detailed patient safety information to help hospitals address preventable adverse medical events.
Treating patients with locally advanced inoperable breast cancer is an extremely difficult task. The overwhelming majority of patients treated for this disease suffer relapse and, despite the best multimodal treatment, do not survive. There is a medical need to examine current and potential treatments, and EORTC researchers have recently published an article in Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology concerning this topic.
